Not Convinced Yet
If you HAVE NOT read the Christianity Overview all the way through, please do so before deciding Christianity doesn’t make sense or isn’t for you.
If you HAVE read the Christianity Overview and are still not convinced, please keep an open mind and read a little bit further. God wants to answer your questions. If you’re sincerely seeking truth, please click on any of the following objections that may be applicable.
I Want To Think It Over
This is a legitimate objection, although please keep two things in mind. Death can strike us at any moment and the Bible clearly says that only those who trust in Jesus will go to heaven. You may not get another opportunity to make this commitment.
As you think things over, consider reading the book of John all the way through over the next several days.

I’m Not Good Enough To Be A Christian
The good news about Christianity is we don’t have to clean up our lives prior to making a decision. The commitment comes first, THEN God helps us make the appropriate changes. That’s why Christ died on our behalf–we weren’t good enough to save ourselves.
I Don’t Believe The Bible Is True
I didn’t believe it was true either until I actually began reading it. I was astounded by the prophecies that came true, word for word, and the historical truth that agreed with what I knew from non-Biblical books.
The only real way to find out if the Bible is true or not is to read it. Try reading the book of John all the way through over the next several days and find out for yourself. I also encourage you to read The Bible, which goes into more depth on the subject.
I Don’t Know Enough About Christianity, Church, And The Bible
Not even longtime Christians know everything there is to know about Christianity. There’s so much to learn. But you don’t need to know everything in order to make a commitment. If you know that Jesus Christ came to earth, was without sin, died on the cross for our sins and was later raised to life, you know enough to make an informed decision. Most people don’t fully understand how electricity works, but we still use it and find it of benefit. If we waited until we knew everything there was to know, nobody would become a Christian.
There Are Too Many Hypocrites In The Church
There ARE too many hypocrites in the church, but there are also too many hypocrites at work, school and everywhere in between. Becoming a Christian is a personal decision each of us must make on our own, independent of what others have or haven’t done. We will all have to give an account of ourselves. Humans are just that–human–and will let you down, but God will never let you down.
There Are Some Things In My Life I Can’t Or Don’t Want To Give Up
It’s natural to either want to hold onto part of our past or be intimidated by having to give something up. But what’s more important, a relationship with our creator and the promise of heaven, or avoiding a commitment because of something from our past? The Bible says “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?” (Mark 8:36). If you trust God and become part of His family, everything else will take care of itself. God won’t ask you to give up anything that’s worth keeping. And if He does want you to give up something, He will help you every step of the way.
I’m Afraid I Might Backslide. I Want To Mean It When I Decide
If by backsliding you mean you may sin after making a commitment, you’re right, you will slip up. Just because you’re a Christian doesn’t mean you won’t still sin now and then. Christians aren’t perfect, just forgiven. ALWAYS forgiven. God holds on tight to those who love Him by accepting His son Jesus. God is faithful even when we’re not.
I’m Waiting For That Special Feeling Before I Decide
The Bible doesn’t ever talk about us having a “special feeling.” People in the Bible, just like people today, became Christians after hearing the truth, believing it and then responding to it. If you wait for a “special feeling” that never comes you will forfeit God’s free gift of heaven.
I’m Waiting For Someone Else To Make The Decision With Me
Others, whether spouses, children, parents or friends, must decide for themselves. Making a commitment like this is a personal decision. Each of us will stand before God and be held accountable for what we did–or didn’t–do. God will honor your act of obedience. Besides, maybe the person you’re waiting for is waiting for YOU to make a decision. Perhaps your commitment will lead to his or hers.
I Can Be As Good Outside The Church As I Can In It.
There are moral people inside and outside of the church, but this commitment isn’t about being good. Not at all. It’s about being right with God, and the only way to make peace with our creator is to humbly admit that we need Him and the forgiveness that only He can offer. The truth is we have the potential of being MUCH more moral and good inside the church because, for the first time in our lives, we have God working on our behalf. We also have a large and loving supportive group in other Christians.
I Don’t Need To Come To Church, I Worship God At Home
You’re right about worshiping God at home. The Bible says we can worship anywhere and everywhere. But the Bible also says that we must worship in spirit and in truth, and until we acknowledge Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we are ignoring the truth and our worship is useless. Once we become a Christian it’s important to find a church home and attend regularly because the Bible commands us to meet together. We also need good teaching and the fellowship and support of other Christians.
