Purpose of Ministry

Using Colossians 3:12-17 as a model, we show our love for the Lord by singing of His works, giving Him thanks and praise, and encouraging one another to live for Him.

Ministry Services Needed

  • Singers – Melody, harmony and lead
  • Musicians – Typical instruments include, but are not limited to, keyboard, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar and drums.
  • Music transcriber/transposer – Works with the worship leader to transpose songs into new keys and notate harmony vocals
  • Songwriter – works with the worship leader and worship team to write songs used in either corporate worship or special solos
  • Drama team – An upcoming service opportunity that will help illustrate and expand the worship experience using acting, speech, video, audio and other means.
  • Choreographer – An upcoming service opportunity that will work with the worship team, drama team and others to help expand the worship experience through plays/skits, interpretive/expressive dance, etc.

Time Commitment

Singers and musicians: Typically, two hours on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m., one hour of practice on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m., time during the beginning and ending of the corporate worship service, and enough personal practice time throughout the week to be ready for both practice and corporate worship. A 1-1/2 hour worship planning meeting is usually held at least once a month to plan the upcoming worship services.

Additional Comments

Serving on the worship team involves much more than singing, playing an instrument or using any other artistic talent. We are a team of lead worshippers, and we can only bring others, such as the congregation, into a place where we ourselves have been. Each of us should spend time with God in worship and prayer away from the public side of this ministry. As leaders, we set an example to follow. All team members should look to 1 Timothy 4:12 for an example of how to live in both their public and private lives.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

Monthly Memory Verse

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
-- Colossians 3:1
